I've had AC lounge dragons try and reject a guest for me before, and both of us were on *A. They pretended we had to be on the same PNR.

You mean "in Canada." In the USA, TSA agents always check your photo ID and Boarding Pass before allowing you through security. The flip side of this is that you don't need to produce photo-ID at the gate.
The flip, flip side is that the TSA usually has no idea what their acceptable ID list is.

Anyone who's flown through a really small airport in Canada (like YYD, YQL, etc.) knows how much of a joke security is. The airport staff in general are almost universally nicer though.
Actually, the security at smaller airports is often better than at larger ones.
