Question Seat Help (Plane Types: ER3 & ERD)

My wife and I have 2 upcoming flights in December and want your opinion on seating.

First flight is 45 minutes
Second flight is 1 hour 45 minutes

Flight 1 AA 3291, ER3

AA indicates seats 1A and 2A as "Preferred Plus." Are they really any better? Is there a bulkhead wall at Row 1?

Flight 2 AA 2900, ERD

AA indicates seats 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A as "Preferred Plus." Are they any different from each other or other seats? Again, is there a bulkhead wall at Row 1? Is it noisy/bothersome near the galley? We would like to nap on this flight as it is late at night.

I am tall so like to be able to stretch my legs forward so having a wall at my feet is not desirable. We cannot take the exit rows as we are travelling with an infant in our lap.

I have currently selected seats 1A and 2A for the time being but there are various seats open throughout the cabin.

Of course, if there are empty seats, we will ask the gate agent about carrying on the car seat and putting him in a seat- and obviously one of us will move to sit next to him (he will only be 5 months at the time of travel).

Thanks for your advice!
