As documented on a
previous thread, I'm currently moving to BA from 100% Star Alliance flying. I'm on my way back to the UK from Sydney tonight, in Club, and after the 16th of November I will have enough TP's to be Silver. The trouble is, I won't have enough BA flights - although my round trip LHR-BKK-SYD-BKK-LHR is four separate BA segments, and despite the fact that you have to deplane at BKK and go through security, it only counts as one BA "flight" each way.
Now, it would be very useful for me to be silver on my *next* flight, long haul in club again to SYD, on the 20th of November, because as a silver I would get 100% extra miles. That's an extra 10k BA miles (or avios, I guess) which I would like to have. So I've been wondering how I can go about turning my TP's into silver status, and the only answer is "take two more BA flights". I see this as a kind of "mileage run", one where I'll gain very little from these two flights themselves apart from the fact that they'll enable me to get the status bonus mileage on the longhaul to SYD.
So, assuming my reasoning above is correct - what is the cheapest possible way I can do this next week (before the 20th)? Ideally for the shortest amount of time too, hell if BA have a LCY-LHR I'd take that just to get the "flight" credit :-P
Many thanks,
