It seems there's a witch hunt on at VIE for overweight bags.
Can't speak for oversize though. Last weekend, my (usually) carry-on was 11kg (*gasp*). When I offered to take my coat and jumper out while taking my (tiny) laptop bag off my back, the check-in smurf said I already had a carry-on. Deep sighing noises.
For the purposes of checking in, my laptop (in a tiny-ish crumpler backpack) is a "laptop" or a "personal item" -- never a bag!
Didn't feel like having an argument though, so just had the guy check the bag. Happily it was first on the belt in SOF, just as I got there.
This is the first time I've ever had my laptop backpack called a second carry-on though. It barely holds my laptop. Are they seizing ladies' handbags too now?
Only after this check-in adventure did I spot the HON/SEN/*G separate check-in zone. I can't help wonder if they would have been more forgiving...
Sorry for the rant. I had a long week with too many airports in it.
