I got a text message a few days ago saying my new visa card will be with me shortly. This was the first I'd heard about it.

I haven't received it yet though. I assume the points on the Visa Card will automatically be added to the same account as the Amex card. If so, it's not too bad in situations were Amex isn't accepted.
