Awesome trip report! I've visited Taiwan a couple of times before, but never got out of the Taipei/Keelung area. Juifen is really quaint and beautiful though.

Hopefully I'll get to visit Hualien and the national parks in the East next time! Looking forward to the rest of your report ^
