I travelled from DXB to LHR and back to DXB for my Grandmother’s funeral.
Getting out of the middle east in any cabin at short notice was very difficult at this time because most of the seats had already been sold to travellers getting away for Eid ul Adha, which is a significant holiday in the Islamic world.
GF was full out of BAH, QR was full ex DOH, and EK and EY were all sold out from their hubs too. BA was sold out everywhere except DXB and I was able to get a CW ticket.
My Grandma loved to travel in style and although she mainly travelled in the days of ocean liners she also flew F a few times between London and the Far East on BOAC. Back in those days a ticket was the same price as the average house.
We loved to tell each other tales of our travels and I know that she would approve of me going in Club World. Fares were looking high and I was going to buy World Traveller Plus but just as I was about to buy I class opened on one of the legs so the price became much more reasonable.
I will let the pictures do the talking from now on.
