Thumbs down IHG website glitch – Cancelled hotel reward nights, deducting points

A little head up’s the keep a careful eye on your points balances, haven’t seen it mentioned on here yet.

This evening, I cancelled a booking for 2 nights at 15k a night on the iPhone app, when I checked my balance, the system had actually taken 10k from my account, I logged on the website on the desktop, in the account summery there are 8 different transactions all for cancelling this 1 reservation for 1 room. When I calculated what my balance should be it was 40,000 short.

The hotel has since gone up to 25k a night, so that’s could be where the glitch is accruing.

After a hour and a half on the phone (0845 arghh..) and speaking to a supervisor I’ve had the points credited back to my account and it’s now showing the correct balance and I’ve made the new reservation I needed the points for.

However, now when I look at my account the rep who has made the correction has somehow managed to take 10k points of my earned total for 2011. This is now showing as 52k and that I need another 8 thousand something to renew Platinum. I renewed Platinum back on the 3rd of January when I cracked the final lock on my case!!
