I use Hotel & Travel Index for this information. Their website has the year the hotel was built, renovated and other important information.

After a fair amount of travel, I've come to realize that the age of a hotel (or time elapsed since complete renovation) can be an outstanding proxy for expected stay quality. I would generally rather stay in a brand-new Holiday Inn Express, for example, than a ratty old full-service Hilton.
