One bottle of hard alcohol, defined by volume IIRC one liter, one fifth, or one quart is OK, has been the USA rule for duty free entrance into the USA for as long as I can remember. This applies whether the alcohol was purchased in a duty free airport store or just in the local destination economy. I think a bit more is permitted when the alcohol content is lower, as in the case of regular, not fortified, wines but I do not remember the details clearly. Check the Customs "Know Before You Go" information.
ADDED. You are free to bring more if you declare it and pay nominal duty, but this can be a time consuming hassle if you have a tight connection after customs. Also, I do not think they accept credit cards and you cannot pay with foreign currency.
