Had the same experience the last time I flew business class on UA. Wanted to sleep but the seat was broken, the leg rest wouldn't stay in place. As soon as you put any weight on the leg rest it would slowly drop down to the floor. Had to put a piece of hard luggage under the leg rest to prop it up.
This was also on a 777 going back to FRA, maybe it was the same plane.

Question: why would I book with United and hope for a good flight/service when I can book on another airline who can guarantee comfort/service?
I never wrote UA to complain, but I made sure my next flight from FRA was on LH. The LH business class isn't the best, but after UA it seemed a whole lot better!
