The poster also was looking to "save a few bucks" and non QF suggestions given saved more than a few bucks ( $6200 vs 9600) and reduced travel to a much saner level .

There arnt many people I know that would want to pay $3000 extra to fly on Qantas over Emirates and also forgo the car transfers on route plus have to fly and extra 3000 miles into the bargain ( including 3000 miles in pseudo economy ( aka Club Europe ) )

If wanting to fly long circuitous distances, could look at a 1st class r/t out of CAI (fare basis FIF) . The base fare is $6742 plus 20% for excess miles coming to $8090. Taxes also need to be added and potentially fuel fines depending on how the ticket is issued. Can do AKL for an extra $300
( though if doing AKL would choose something like EK for the Trans Tasman since QF doesn't have 1st class on that route )

The ticket books in F on BA and , unlike MOW, the LHR-CAI service is operated with aeroplanes that have 1st class
