Connections at NRT require security screening in both directions. They follow the standard 311 liquids in a baggie rule. However, IIRC you can keep on shoes and even a light jacket. At NRT, you seem to be able to buy duty free liquids and take them onto the exNRT flight segment as there is no additional security at the gate, unlike for DL flights departing from most other Asian airports.

(SIN is like AMS in that all of the security screening is at the gate, although they differ in that SIN asks the security questions at check in rather than in the gate area. IIRC you can buy sealed liquids at SIN duty free for flights not going to the USA. I have purchased wine in SIN T2 duty free to take into Bali DPS on a SQ flight without a problem.)
