For the record, my 2cents also:

Comfort Inn Jacksonville Beach FL - very nice, on the beach, beautiful pool with waterfall, great bar outside on the deck. Make sure to request oceanview or pool view (the only negative thing to say is if you get the parking lot view you could be right over the dumpster - been there - now I always request oceanview).

Comfort Inn Troy AL - not bad, comparable to the Holiday Inn and HI Express in town. I'm just not a big fan of exterior corridors though.

Comfort Inn Wilmington NC - older but suitable for 1 or 2 nights. The brand new Courtyard across the street however is much nicer.

Clarion - Ithaca NY - it was clean but old; doesn't look like a hotel really. I think it was a Sheraton?? at one time because you can still see the outline of some letters on the exterior of the building.
