Even if the GIDS shows the flight is closed, you might still want to go to the gate. I've gotten on a couple flights even after the flights have shown as being closed. It can't hurt to try. Granted, the flight most likely is gone, but once, the GA even had them reopen the door to let me on. (The door opened a crack. The Jetway had already been slightly moved. The GA more or less pushed me through the crack and I stumbled onto the plane, but at least I got on! I thank the GA every time I see him.)
