I had a dog tear most of the lining out of a ski jacket. Sent it back for repair a few years later after it had been out of catalog for at least ten years. Included a note that I was happy to pay for a repair. Instead got a gift card for the full purchase price of the garment, which IIRC was over $300. Very nice service.
Haven't had any Patagonia luggage but I'd be surprised if they didn't take care of the customer in similar fashion.
I've had a similarly good experience with service regarding to a jacket from them. They offered to exchange it but I declined because there wasn't even a jacket in the range that I liked as much as my 97 Torre Jacket. So they repaired it free of charge.
However, anything that is not written, one cannot rely on. And this is about warranties that are bulletproof.
