The BA sign up bonus for the free card is now 4kif you are referred by an existing cardholder. The paid card has a 19k bonus if referred.

Short term, I would get an SPG Amex. The bonus in November is 20k, so 25k in airline miles, and you retain flexibility to move them to BA or M&M as necessary. £75 fee reduced by £20 via Quidco.
