It is a bit risky, but I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. We're in biz on the CO flight, and if things look bad on the day we'll get our asses out to EWR early and beg and plead to be on an earlier flight. And if the worst comes to the worst and we do miss our NZ flight, I take some comfort from the knowledge that we might make NZ5 45 minutes later (assuming NZ would let us on), and failing that, that LAX-AKL loads the following day (Dec24th) are likely to be lowish, since that flight time involves completely missing Christmas Day.
