Nothing beats Priceline bidding in Amsterdam for an upscale quality hotel. OK staying free at a friends may.

And I have seen plenty of sub-$100 wins for 4 stars over the past several years. But its getting tougher.

Gone are the 2 week stays for a win price of $68 a night for a 4*.

And now while they are plenty of really good wins the weekends have become more of a problem. Sunday-Thursday are much easier.

I'd still bid especially on a 4*. Even if the win price is more than in the past. Paying well over $100 a night for a 2* double is now the norm.l

The Hotel Brouwer is actually a hotel and not a B&B. Its typical of many small AMS hotels. Although not typical in terms of how nice that 2 star is. A great place to stay but now out of my price range since I can stay in a 4 star cheaper----if I bid.
