Comfort Hotel, Bolivar, Rome

Mrs Ispolkom and I spent three nights here last month, paying only 8k points a night.

PROS

1) Location. It's near Via Nationale, between Rome Termini and the Centro Istorico. It's a quick walk to the Trevi Fountain, for instance, and only slightly longer to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. It's a reasonably good location for public transportation, and quite handy to the main Rome train station, if you're willing to take an express bus for 10 minutes.

2) Breakfast. Wide selection of food, both hot (scrambled eggs and bacon) and cold (boiled eggs, cheese and sliced salami, lots of pastries, various sorts of breakfast cereals). Hot coffee and milk, and hot water for tea drinkers. The breakfast room is on the top floor, with large westward-facing windows. A beautiful place to sip coffee and watch the sun come up (we're early risers).

3) Service. We're not very demanding guests, so others might differ, but I was happy to leave off our luggage (we arrived around 10 a.m.) and sight-see for the rest of the day. We arrived back in the late afternoon and our luggage had already been delivered to our room.

4) Price, of course. You can't beat 8k points a night.

Cons

1) Room size. The room we were in was tiny, and also was the smallest one on our floor. There was perhaps 18 inches of space on either side of our bed, the bathroom was quite small, and the shower was absurdly cramped. The only smaller shower I've ever used was on a train, and that at least had the excuse of being in a moving vehicle.

2) Finding the place. The hotel is located in an alley off a minor street off of Via Nationale. It's a convenient location, but not the easiest place to find when you're jetlagged and new to a city.

I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay the rates this hotel charges on the Choice Web site, but for points, it was an excellent value.
