If I was in your shoes, I'd wait it out too. But I wouldn't get on that flight to DEN if you know you're going to misconnect--I never trust when any airline says connections will be held. Sometimes they can get back on schedule (or close to it) through the day. Your DEN-LAX flight could also get delayed during the day as well...

If you're still showing a delay, go thru MDW and deal with a middle seat in the back for a few hours. It's not that bad. At least the MDW flight leaves after yours so you can switch out at the last minute.
