Hotel laundry - if it is self serve perhaps, but not all hotels offer that, and you will find their non DIY laundry rates much higher. But then of there is a launderette nearby that solves that problem to an extent.

Yes, if it is only 2 weeks vacation a year, no real difference to an apartment.

I would get a private mail box (not a PO box) for about $200 a year. Laundry costs us about $10 a week now, which I assume would be on par with the hotel laundry.

I don't see the difference with renting an apt vs a hotel room and going on vacation
