When I called the hotel front desk they mentioned that if I am booked on the Feature room I would be upgraded to the Junior Suite (only Ambassador member) but I am not sure whether they would let me stay on in the same room for the next two days when I am booked on the Deluxe King Room as there was no option for me to book any room using the voucher other than the King Room? They mentioned that they would try not to make guests shift so you think its a risky strategy? The reservations also told me that the period I am visiting in January is a low season and there are no big conventions during the dates which I am visiting. Thanks!
I think your question is more about individual properties and how they manage such issues rather than an IC specific question. In this case, I would suggest you contact the hotel directly to explain your situation. I have some business cards of different folks here, so feel free to PM me.

Also, remember RA's get 2 level UG's, whereas Amb's are only supposed to get 1.

Also, when you arrive at the airport and taking a taxi to the hotel, make sure the taxi driver go by the meter. At times, they will tell you Century City is out of town area and they will not get a return fare after dropping you off, so they will offer a fixed fare at RMB80.00 The meter fare from the airport to the IC Chengdu should only be around RMB40.00+-

Taxi fare from IC Chengdu to city center will cost around RMB35.00 and to the Panda Base around RMB80.00

There is a subway station nearby but I have not tried it yet.

Enjoy you stay at IC Chengdu!
Good tips. Taxi's typically are ok to come by usually, but if there is a convention agree it would be hard. The subway station (last stop, Century City) is convenient to go north through the city. From there you can catch bus lines pretty easily if you want to save $$. To the city center I always took the subway, esp a good idea during rush hour.

As for the airport thing, good tips though it's hard. My cab from the hotel to the airport cost me 70 RMB this AM. The driver wanted 120 and I wasn't in the mood to argue, so talked my way down to 70 or so. The hotel said it should cost 100RMB or less so figured 70 was close enough.

Airport shuttle is 10RMB and runs from airport to Mingsheng hotel downtown. Not convenient for the IC, but you can do it (shuttle bus to subway) for a total of 14RMB if you don't mind the time.
