I spent forever on the phone with a (very helpful) agent, but unfortunately there's no availability for the NYC-LAX sector. Looking on EF, I see that there is indeed no availability. And yet, the multi-city tool could somehow find CO and UA S class availability (a cheap economy fare class). Wonder what would happen if I tried to ticket that online? (I would have gone ahead and tried, but unfortunately it forced some other compromises with the ticket, so in the end I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Anyway, I currently have LAX-AKL-WLG-BHE/BHE-AKL-SYD/SYD-WLG/WLG-AKL-SFO-JFK being held for me. We're on NZ1 LAX-AKL, dep 9.15pm. How close would you dare to cut it if getting a separate oneway ticket NYC-LAX? Do y'all reckon CO14 EWR-LAX, arriving 6.33pm, is too tight? I'm inclined to think a 2h42 connection is just about OK. It's just before Christmas, so I guess not a great time for avoiding delays, but at least it's also on *A so they *might* even check us right through if they are unexpectedly filled with the spirit of the season.

Any thoughts? (In case you're wondering why I'm contemplating cutting it fine, it means I can save one more day of my (extremely scarce) annual leave, which is already oversubscribed...)
