I'm a GM on a paid ticket. Wife and daughter are on separately booked but identical flights to Hawaii.

If I call to get them linked can I expect to get up to two bags each free?

The answers I found here seem to be generally considered yes if I check everything at the counter with an agent. Any recent experience? I'd like to save $100-$150. I'm also traveling with an unticketed infant and I'm not sure how much my wife will make me lug around.
I don't think you should have a problem. My father (no status) and I took a trip to LAX this summer. Originally, we were booked on the same itinerary, but I ended up splitting them to increase our odds of 1 upgrade. With that being said, we went through the SP line at MSP and went straight to an agent. No questions asked she took both of our bags and golf clubs (2 items total, each). Priority tags and all for all 4 bags. I would give DL a call though just to make sure and save your self some potential trouble at check in.
