HI All - once more I turn to the amazing collective wisdom of FlyerTalk SPG road warriors for help planning a trip. I'd like to take the wife and kids (8 and 11) to France and maybe Italy, and I'd like to use or earn *points where I can. We're fairly flexible within those two countries. And of course, if there are any properties that are ones to be avoided at all costs, please let me know.

I'm not looking for a Disney hotel experience for the kids. But I do need hotels with rooms big enough for us (the kids are happy to crash in one bed for the two of them, if it's queen size or bigger), and where we'll be decently treated. Bonus points for being within walking distance of interesting stuff (for kids and adults!), and bonus points for reliable plat upgrades.
