It's not about looking self-important. It's about getting on the plane early, and not having to fight through the masses of people who invariably line up early anyway. How is standing in line annoying anyone reasonable? Especially, if you're entitled to be there anyway.

Just because it's not important to you and/or you wouldn't do it yourself doesn't mean others shouldn't do it if that's how they want to spend their time.
