First, I haven't "stayed" here since it was the San Franciscan hotel, back before 1990. Second, I'm assuming the address is the one on Market St.
That said, this is an old hotel in the Civic Center area of town--- so a couple of cautions. One, it's DEAD at night, except for the bums, so plan on taking taxis to and from your evening destinations (unless like me you don't mind the bus/metro subway down Market, which are both right in front of the hotel.)
Next, be aware that you've got limited dining potential (one of SF's high points) real close.
My office used to be up Market about a block. We moved to get away from the bums.
When I stayed, the rooms were a little small, and not fully modernized, but otherwise OK. Perhaps someone else here has stayed more recently, since Ramada took over about 5 years ago. The lobby, btw, is like in a time warp. The rate, however, may be pretty attractive in comparison to high SF rates.
If I was headed there on a weekend, with day activities outside the hotel in mind, I'd plan to carry a bunch of one-dollar bills, use the bus to get up or down Market street to Union Square (it's only 4 or 5 blocks, but they're the worst SF has to offer), keeping in mind that a transfer is free, and use the Ramada for sleeping at night, once I'd finished my day out, taking a cab there.
Have a great time in our city, by the way.
