Whenever I have more than the 35 Minutes for conformance available, I will go landside, regardless of the terminal. I am that addicted
Never had an issue - particularly since I use IRIS at immigration. Bags will be checked through, also between terminals
Edit: Actually I had issues two or three times. Sometimes they will send me back to BA's "Passport Check" Desk prior to letting me through security - who will then ask me "Why did you come landside?" Not a big problem - just allow 40 Minutes instead of 35...
