There are always exceptions, and Easyjet, quite obviously, is that exception. (I think they like to be "the exception" - they were, for a long time, the only airline in Europe that did not have weight restrictions for carry-on luggage. I believe BA has now followed their example)

I agree there is no reason why AF couldn't choose to be another exception, but unless other airlines start allowing stand-by I very much doubt that they will. It's not really in their commercial interest to do so.
