I beg to differ. AM tickets/flights are in a Tango+ fare class but are not upgradeable with eCredits nor do they earn miles. This particular subclass is blocked in the system and is not a normal publicly available fare class. It was reported here a few years ago that the res file contains wording that no upgrades can be given (though as an SE I've been opup'd a few times on an AM ticket). Has Academic (or anyone here) actually upgraded an AM flight with eCredits or certs before that?
I called the Elite desk and added my AE number to an AM reservation recently and then eUpgraded that flight two weeks ago. I also received AE miles for the flight (as I have with previous AM tickets). I used my PNR to locate the flight on ac.com and then eUpgraded with no issue whatsoever both directions.
