Just thought I would take this opportunity to tell 2 little stories (not trip reports) about why I am still so gosh darn loyal to SQ.

The other week I was flying SIN-SYD in Y class and my VLML meal was not loaded. While still serving the pax meals, I asked the F/A the whereabouts of my special meal, and she instantly said she would investigate. About 10 minutes later she comes back, apologises profusely and explains that my meal was not loaded. She then finds me something vegetarian from business class and brings it to my seat. At the start of the snack served prior to descent, I receive a spare vegan meal without having to communicate anything further, with more sincere apologies. A little later in the flight, another F/A comes up to me with notepad in hand and starts asking many questions about how I ordered my meal etc. He needed to report the incident to catering to ensure it does not happen again.

Compare this to when I flew NG/OS from KUL-SYD. Again, my VLML was not loaded, and one of the young "I am too good to be serving you meals" F/As said it was not the airlines problem and was the airports fault. No offer to fix the situation, not even an apology. She then says that fish is available. I say, hey, fish is not vegetarian, to which I receive the response "you are a man, a man can eat fish, only girls are vegetarians". During the latter snack service, the F/A tries to give me beef, to which I respond "remember me", and she says "ahh yes, sorry beef or nothing".

On a recent HKG-SIN Y class flight (completely full 744) I had a headache and asked for a panadol which was delivered promptly. On two occassions later in the flight, the F/As came up to me and asked by name if I was feeling OK. Once we landed I noticed they had stuck a "do not disturb" on my seat. Upon disembarking, again, they say "hope you are feeling better Mr MD".

Anyway, with all the b!tching and moaning that goes on here, it does pay to remember that SQ are a very, very good airline, even up the back of the bus. I've done 40+ mostly long-haul flights with SQ in the past 3 years in Y & C, and while they have not all been superb, IMHO they are consistently better than any other airline.

Let's try and keep this a positive thread.
