My only concern is the distance from the centre of town and deliberating between the Sofitel Wanda in central Chengdu and the IC - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Hardware is fine. If it has to be a really large bathtub, go for the studio suite which has a jacuzzi, and hence the largest tub in the hotel. The sofitel has standard tubs.

Tea service: You can request tea service, there's a tea set in your room.

Software: Club lounge staff is so-so, other than that great treatment.

Location: There are a couple of restaurants now around the hotel. Not great location for sightseeing, particularily the pandas are far away. Metro is fast and easy, though. Sofitel is also not the epicenter of Chengdu, but you'll definitely be quicker taking a cab from the Sofitel to sights in and around Chengdu.

No pool at the IC, I don't know about the Sofitel.
