Since I fly mostly short haul flights, it would be inpossible for me to make SE with the mile qualification. Last year by November, I had flown 136 segments and decided to go after SE by doing a few mileage runs. Of course I did these on UA with 6 segment tickets. Unless you like a lot of Ups and Downs, achieving AC's SE is not easy on segments. The up side here is that United comped me PremX status. In my opinion there is no advantage to SE status on AC, therefore this year I will probably split my segments to reach both UA's PremX and AC's Elite. I figure this will be the best af all worlds.
