I dont think the bankruptcy would be a problem--- even if AA goes under bankruptcy protection they will not disappear overnight--- besides, their international routes are quite lucrative-- you can try going to Star Alliance, but with the UA/CO merger the new program is awful, they are shortchanging a lot of people, especially those who get 50K level. Your next best bet would be Skyteam (Delta).
