Returned my 2012 GMC Terrain SLT-2 this morning at BWI. I'm not a truck guy myself, but I liked this vehicle so much I've added it to my short list of cars to seriously consider when I'm in the market next Spring (which also includes the new S60 T6, so I'm hoping BWI gets an S60 at some point). Sorry for the dark iPhone photos.

Picked up my Terrain on Friday, October 28th around 8PM. Had 1234 miles at pickup. SLT-2 trim (top of the line) with everything but nav and rear seat DVD (and new for 2012, lane departure warning system). This Terrain had the chrome appearance package (chrome mirrors, door handles, front grille treatment). This one also had the backup camera and rear parking assist which was fantastic for tight city parking. Mine was the V6-AWD, which did the gas mileage no favors. Google the Terrain/Equinox owners' complaints about the false advertising on the gas mileage and you'll find out. In purely city driving I was getting about 14 MPG which I attribute to horrendous DC traffic and a slightly heavy foot to get around Metro buses. I imagine in the real world that number is probably still closer to 16 or 17 once the engine has broken in, but not impressive for a relatively small truck. Highway was in the low 20's on the drive back to BWI at about 65 MPH. On the flip side, I found no lack of torque (sorry drzoidberg) and the truck felt properly quick (V6 AWD rated for 7.2 seconds 0-60!!) I did not notice any brake "mushiness", pedal feel was fine in my opinion. The ride was superb, even over DC's excuse for road infrastructure.

Had a manufacturer's quality control sticker dated October 1st, 2012, so this truck must only have been in the fleet for a few weeks.

Mine was equipped identically to the one drzoidberg had, except I had a black leather interior with red stitching, which I found much more attractive than the two-tone grey. The interior was a fantastic place to be, I LOVED the seats. They provided just the right amount of side bolstering and the bottoms were sculpted and long enough (unlike most GM seats which I find to be short and unsupportive). The stereo, as already observed, was one of the best I've ever heard and the touch screen was intuitive and snappy. No issues syncing my iPhone with the phone either, which was refreshing. While I did not get to use the huge sunroof on Saturday (thank you October Nor'Easter!) I did on Sunday, and I was impressed with its silent operation and a complete lack of wind noise with it open. The power liftgate was also a nice feature.

I'll also note I did not have any of the visibility issues that drzoidberg and others have mentioned. The spotter mirrors helped but I never had a problem seeing out the (admittedly thick) side pillars.

Overall, I will definitely try and get this again.

I am left wondering though why GM won't offer Xenons on this truck though, the headlights are already set up for projectors!
