Stay is completed and went off without a hitch. Great redemption value for us and nice property, too.
Thank you both.
I just called the above number and booked the night. The rep immediately asked "you are calling about the Chase Free Night?" and yes he sees the entitlement in husband's account. He said he needed to check availability first - I told him it was available for 40K booking... Only one type of room available though - Kingbed Superior Plaza View, (or the generic room description).
So it is done, still need the give the CC guarantee of course.
It now shows up on the upcoming reservation with N/A in Travel Profile and Originally Made By columns as well as the "Call for Details" button. Even at Holidayinn.com site it cannot be viewed online while all other award bookings are viewable including those with Call button when viewed at PCR site.
Email confirmation has come and shown the correct description :
Rate Type: Annual Free Night Certificate for PCR Visa/Chase Cardholders
Also there is a notation of Hotel Fee of $331.55 shown as below:
Room Rate Per Night:
price not shown
Hotel Fees:
HK$331.55 (HKD)
Estimated Total Price:
HK$331.55 (HKD)
I am unable to find out what this fee is for given there is no description given in the confirmation email plus the fact that I am unable to pull up detail reservation online.
Does anybody see similar fee showing up on their Free Night Cert bookings?
EDIT:
Called PCR again. The rep said it should be absolutely free, no tax or service charge. She said whenever there is a free night, they open a case for it (sounds like the infamous BPG?) and she gave me a case number in case we need it later.
FWIW, the best available rate is HKD2792, actually about the same as the W hotel, which costs 12K SPG pts versus 40K PC pts for an IC... Goes to tell you SPG pts worth a whole lot more than PC pts especially if you try to earn it via spending on the CC.
