Today, I upgraded HKG-ORD from Y to J for a Christmas trip over the phone with a most helpful MPO representative. Checking my itinerary just now, the J seats are booked (Class U) and the miles/segments to accrue are set to 0. I had thought upgrade redemptions accrued miles in the original class of booking - am I mistaken or have the rules changed?
