A TSA screener's skill set is not one that is compatible with any vacancies I would have, so I'm not sure where else in government a clerk might seek employment. The Federal Protective Service (government building guard) might be one possibility, but, the background check is more thorough than a screener applicant's background check because of the FPS requirement to be armed.

At the federal office buildings I regularly visit (near DCA and ATL), the FPS utilizes both *contract* armed security building guards and sworn law enforcement officers (LEOs). The screening work is performed by the contract employees, not by federal employees. The LEOs enforce laws around the buildings and do crime investigations.
