Yep, I know all that and I agree. The point I was trying to make is that when you set up your desktop and web browser reading sizes for 1366x768, and then constantly switch to an external monitor with much higher resolution, it can involve some rework to reset settings and such. Suddenly the web pages get tiny, unreadable type, for instance.

I've always found it easier to match laptop and external monitor resolutions when feasible - my T500 is 1680x1050, and I have it matched to an external 22" monitor at resolution 1680x1050, so everything's hunky dory.

If one can handle the changing resolutions as you're working on the laptop, then working with a monitor, then back to the laptop screen, etc. during the course of a day or a week, then that's peachy too - I just think it's easier and more efficient to match resolutions to the extent possible when you're constantly on the move.
