Would this cause a problem with entry to the USA? I presume my finger prints will match against a UK passport? Or would it be less hassle from a USA entry point of view to just cough up and renew my UK passport?

I presume others on this forum with multiple passports will have some experience
What's wrong with a tatty passport? I'm not sure CBP will care as long as the security features are intact.
