What I will say is I never flew with bags besides carry on and had always paid for speedy boarding.
The above said if I ever had to fly non-domestic I would choose BA (or eurostar my new found love if travelling in europe). I would phone BA and see if they could add BCN onto the PNR for the discounted price if you are connecting through LHR.
Absolutely agree the easyJet experience will depend on circumstances and mine are probably as different from GLA-LGW with carry on as is possible; Luton-Sharm with diving gear (after BA cancelled the route - CW vs easyJet feeds predjudices!!). But the OP is coming off a cruise so probably is a bit closer in duration of flight and baggage limitations to me - but yes I admit I'm not in the least impartial!!
