Maybe AA should offer such a fare? Now that would be a good service for members of AAdvantage i.e a special fare back to base for users of an award flight. Or of course you might be expected to buy the miles.
I certainly would love such an option, and it might even generate incremental revenue for AA and get some AAdvantage miles off their books.
