I checked at the LAX duty free. You can buy perfume, cosmetics but you must pay tax. Chocolates can also be bought. You cannot buy alcohol period if you're flying domestic which is unfortunate as the duty free shops are the only readily available source of Sheridan's in the continental US it seems.
