All agreed...the OP mentioned about defecting to AA, presumably on this same route, but that would mean making a connection on the West Coast, and service and amenities that are not substantially different than was received here.
So you can either fly non-stop in a watered-down version of international business class seat on CO, or you can fly in a somewhat premium version of domestic business class on AA, and make a stop at LAX.
Given that choice, I would go with CO.
And as far as the bad apples go, I hope no one is suggesting that there are no bAAd AAples on AA...
This isn't completely accurate. AA operates 763's with their international angled lie-flats biz seats on this route as an "F" cabin. And they do so from 2x daily flights from DFW, so you do not have to go all the way to LAX to get to HNL.
I can't comment on comparing the service, as I've not been on this flight on CO, but the hard product is not a recliner style seat like you would find on the usual AA domestic F. It would be if you were on a 757. There's no in-seat IFE on the 763's, though, and that's a bummer.
