There really aren't any diamond 'perks' that a companion gold card holder could use. Also, status only loosely translates into better comp rooms. It's all about your theo; and a gold with a higher theo will get better rooms (dates, selection etc.) than a diamond with a lower theo.

I've found that it is loosely based on the property, with regard to checking for companions at check-in. It's inconsistent, and YMMV, but there are some CET properties that definitely follow the rules much more closely than others.
