I wouldn't count on having your status updated within one week after your flight.
I flew UA11 JFK-LAX in March, gave the check in staff my Krisflyer card, but she entered it as UA 869#######, instead of SQ 869#######. When I looked at the boarding pass, I noticed this and asked her to correct it. No apologies at all, but the grumpy staff did change it to show "SQ". No miles were credited within one month, at which time I submitted a missing mileage request to Krisflyer. About a month later I received credit. I was flying UA Business.

I guess it depends on your luck.
