Flew on a CO flight last week from LAX-HNL in economy. I thought all CO flights had AVOD. Mine's didn't work and when I called the FA, he said, "Did you swipe your card?"

I asked if there was anything free and he said that the only free things were "coffee, water, and sodas." If I wanted to see a movie or listen to music, it would be $7.99.

Has this always been the case?
