I just went on same that flight less than a month ago. When I picked up my bag(a hard Samsonite case), it had been opened and inspected by the TSA. It was obviously done after the bags have been checked-in. I had locked it without thinking, but fortunately the locks were not damaged. It is very easy to unlock any Samsonite case with a small flat-blade screwdriver. The TSA left a note inside saying my case was selected for random inspection and they even duct-taped it afterwards.
