I have a couple of Citi cards, including the Thank You Preferred (formerly PremierPass Amex), and just this week I got an application in the mail for the regular Thank You card - with a bonus of 50,000 points if I spend $3000 in the first three months.
I'm going to call and find out whether I can take advantage of this offer despite already having a broadly similar card. The fine print says the offer is only available for new accounts, which - I believe - this would technically be, as I don't currently have that specific card. But we'll see.
I find Citi's direct-mail operations to be rather bizarre. They'll keep sending me the exact same mailing for the same card over and over again - sometimes once a week for a month or so. I can't understand why - surely someone there would have figured out the law of diminishing returns? If I haven't applied for the card after three mailings, do they really think #4 will be the charm?
